Editorial policy
- Accuracy first. We would rather show no meaning than a wrong one. Uncertain meanings are labelled and kept out of category lists.
- Separate facts. Linguistic origin, the communities that use a name, and religious associations are separate facts. A Sanskrit-origin name is used by many communities.
- No assumptions about people. We never imply that a person’s community, religion or caste can be known from their given name.
- Clear about our data. Popularity comes from a defined sample. Numerology and astrology are traditional beliefs, not facts.
- AI assistance, human review. Drafts are prepared with AI assistance and reviewed by editors, starting with the most-viewed names.
- Corrections. Anyone can report a correction. We review every report and update the page when the evidence supports it.
- Only useful pages. We publish a list page only when it contains enough names to be useful.
